The Internet can waste people's time or even pose a danger, so sometimes it makes sense to block Internet access. For example, if you don't want a young child to use the Internet without permission, or if you don't want an employee browsing at work, you can block access by restricting a computer's Web browser permissions. This easy fix stops certain users without necessarily blocking everyone.
STEP 2
Open the Search charm and type "File Explorer." Choose "Apps," and then select "File Explorer."
STEP 3
Find the executable file that launches the browser you want to block. For Internet Explorer it is iexplore.exe, for Chrome it is chrome.exe, and for Firefox it is firefox.exe. You can use File Explorer to search for these file names directly, or you can navigate there yourself since in many cases the files live in a standard location.
For Internet Explorer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer
For Google Chrome, replacing "Administrator" with your account name:
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application
For Mozilla Firefox:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
STEP 4
Right-click on the executable file, and choose "Properties." Click the "Security" tab. On the Security page you will see a list of user permissions. Click "Edit." Select the user whose access you want to limit, and click the check boxes to deny all permissions. Then click "OK."
