9 Top Rivalries Of The Tech World – Giving Rise To Innovation!

Regardless of the efforts Bill gates is putting to earn a good name in the world of philanthropists, and of Steve Jobs to make Apple a tough competitor, rivalries are always there. On one side, Jobs declared Bill as an unimaginative person without any inventions and using the talent of other people to present innovative ideas. Gates declared Jobs as the incapable CEO of Apple, who can’t win over Microsoft. The rivalries are not just limited to Apple and Microsoft; there are many other competitors in the field who have the biggest feuds in the technology world.

1 Samsung Against Apple

The rivalry of both companies has reached at peak when Apple has won the infringement case against Samsung. Samsung has presented itself as Apple Eater in an Ad. The fanboys, who defend Apple, are portrayed by Samsung as brainless kids that create hype for Apple’s machine. This was done just prior to the launch of iPhone 5, but the bad effects are not that much obvious.

2 Apple Against Microsoft

Although Apple used the software of Microsoft in Apple II, the redesigned version initially, the rivalry started later on. When Apple launched Mac in 1984, Microsoft was already enjoying the popularity of Windows OS. Apple couldn’t get the big market share of the desktops, but Jobs had revolutionized the mobile market in ’00s. Bill gates had given very cold remarks over the iPad launch, though they had their own tablet introduced 10 years ago.

3 Apple Against IBM

The rivalry between Apple and IBM can be very well judged from the words that Steve Jobs used for Apple. He said that if we lose in front of IBM due to any reason, the computer world would have to face the Dark Ages for almost 20 years.

4 Apple Against Dell

CEO of Dell, Michael Dell, said in an interview that if he were the head of Apple, he might shut the company and return the investment back to the shareholders. Steve Jobs responded that Dell is making money like a vendor and Apple is doing it through innovation.

5 Apple Against Google

The operating system of Google, Android OS, has made Jobs saying that they will sooner destroy the Android, as it’s a stolen product. Jobs said that he would spend each penny of Apple to prove that Android is a stolen product of Google. However, after Jobs’ death, Google was not reluctant to pay tribute to him on the home page.

6 Apple Against Adobe

Jobs, while pointing at Adobe, said that it’s lazy so it couldn’t get a place at iPad or iPhone. He further said that whenever there is an issue of Mac Crashes, the reason is simple, the Flash. Adobe although said they love Apple, but they don’t like anyone taking away their freedom.

7 Sun Microsystems Against Microsoft

Scott McNealy, former CEO of Sun Microsystems, was against Microsoft and the main reason was the fees Microsoft was charging to its customers. He suggested that Microsoft should be taken over as a public domain and there should be a free Windows for all.

8 Oracle Against Microsoft

Larry Ellison, the CEO of Oracle, got worst when he hired a private contractor to buy the garbage of Microsoft. The intention was to malign the bad PR practices of Microsoft. He further said that he is ready to send the trash of Oracle to the headquarters of Microsoft.

9 AT&T Against Verizon

The fire between both companies was fueled in 2011, when Verizon win over iPhone, A big shock for AT&T (the previous holder of iPhone). One Ad from Verizon showed that the callers can hear clearly now, but AT&T replied to the Ad by saying that users can’t talk and browse web at the same time if they are using Verizon based iPhone. However, Apple tries to bring peace by saying that 2 is better than 1. This rivalry is also giving rise to the unlock iPhone service providers, because it’s the most important aspect from the users’ perspective.
Aren’t these rivalries interesting? The real thing is these give a new dimension to the technological revolution. New technological developments are very much based on these rivalries when everyone tries to bring defeat for the other through technological innovation.
