29 Million Indians Discuss Elections On Facebook

 Since the announcement of election dates on April 7th, there has been active participation of people in the social media sights discussing about who the next Prime Minister will be. Facebook in particular has seen a lot of election related interactions happening over the past few months.


"...From the day elections were announced to the day polling ended, 29 million people in India made 227 million interactions on Facebook. That's two-thirds of all daily active Facebook users in India and an average of 10 interactions per person. In addition, 13 million people made 75 million interactions regarding Narendra Modi," Facebook has said. 




Narendra Modi is the second most liked politician on Facebook behind President Obama and Arvind Kejirwal. Modi’s official page also shows that he has 9,267,177 likes and 1,313,474 people talking about him, which is more than Bollywood legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. Modi has 3.3 million followers on Twitter, which ranks him among the top five liked politicians globally.



Analyzing the three parties, results showed that BJP had 45.31 lakhs while Congress has 33.09 lakhs and AAP has 21.9 lakhs.
