MAKE YOUR LAPTOP A “WI-FI ROUTER” OR “WI-FI HOTSPOT” IN WIN7 & WIN8

In this trick you will learn how to make your laptop a Wi-Fi hotspot Windows 7 and Windows 8. Till now you can only make your android phone as Wi-Fi hotspot. But after reading this post you will be able to make your laptop as a Wi-Fi router or hotspot.

Why we need it

Sometimes our laptop is running on internet data card. But you cannot use this on other laptop at the same time. But after reading this post you can also share your internet card. So just follow the simple steps and you are ready.


Step 1

Download Virtual Router Manager. It is a software which will convert your laptop into a Wi-Fi hotspot or Router.

Step 2

Install it by following the software instructions.

Step 3

After installation you will see the shown below window on your screen.

Step 4

Fill all the required information in the fields.
  • Enter Network Name (SSID) of your choice, for example give VirtualRouter.
  • Enter Password, it should be 8 bit long (User secure password by using the combination of numbers, special symbol’s, upper and lower case letters)
  • Now in shared connection select Wireless Network Connection.

  • Click on Start Virtual Router and you are done. Now your Laptop will work as a Wi-Fi Router or Hotspot.

Step 5

You can see the icon in hidden icons as shown in below image.

Your laptop is ready to work as Wi-Fi hotspot or router.

How To Use It

  1. Turn ON your Wi-Fi on your other laptop/tablet/smartphone and search for the Wi-Fi with the name VirtualRouter (Network Name (SSID) set by you on Step 4)
  2. Click/Tap on connect button.
  3. Enter the password (Set by you on Step 4)
  4. Now you can use can the internet on your laptop/tablet/smartphone.
