During a super bowl match interval, a Harvard school kid introduced one of his friends to Facebook. It was an exponential rise from there on and the social networking site has added 50 million users in the first year. Today, Facebook (FB) is the most favorite social media app downloaded on Smartphones. It accounts for 66 percent of all social media sharing on iPhones, as reported by Albert Costill of Search Engine Journal.

1. Facebook had a major homepage remodeling in 2007, which replaced a person’s partly obscured face behind a cloud of binary code. The mystery man was none other than the legendary actor Al Pacino. This fact came to light when David Kirkpatrick, who in his book ‘The Facebook Effect,’ revealed that the effect was created by a friend and classmate of Mark Zuckerberg.


2. The Zuckerberg family spent $85,000 in FB’s first summer to keep the company running. Mark Zuckerberg is worth around $19 billion now.


3. When Facebook made its stock market debut via NASDAQ on 18 May 2012, the shares of the enterprise was priced at $38. That means the valuation of the corporation was over $100 billion. Facebook was worth more than eBay, Yahoo, Netflix, IAC, AOL, Zynga, Groupon, LinkedIn, and Pandora combined.



4. The first corporate partnership of FB was launched in May 2006 with Apple, Microsoft, Intel, EA and Amazon. Before that, it had partnered with Accenture, Gap, Intuit, Pepsi, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. As a part of corporate social responsibility, it took up ‘Teach for America’ project.



5. Co-founder of Napster, Sean Parker transformed Facebook from a college project to an actual company. Further, it was Parker who suggested the popular feature - photo sharing.
