New Facebook Messenger App Available

Facebook Messanger App

According to Mashable, the new Facebook Messenger app is now available on iOS and Android, so all mobile users now have access to the new app. It opens up the ability to message a greater number of people, by allowing users to contact anyone in their list of contacts who has the app. In the past, they had to be Facebook friends in order to use it. As a result, people should be aware that anyone they give their phone number to can also send them a message through Facebook Messenger.

Speed

In addition, the messages sent through the Facebook app will now be transmitted a lot faster, a lot like SMS messages or text messages. This may open the door to using it in lieu of text messages in order to save money on text messaging rates.

Operating System Specific

In addition, the app is designed separately for iOS and Android, in an effort to make it feel more natural in terms of the graphic design. This should also make it easier to use intuitively for users who have had their specific phone for a while.

The True Driving Factor Behind the Update

As mentioned above, the app allows customers to bypass text messaging in a lot of ways, which can save them money. In addition, the app is available in a lot of parts of the world where bulk text messaging plans are not available and people are charged per text message. Therefore, Facebook is likely making a push to increase its market share in those countries by getting people to download the app in order to be able to effectively text message without paying for it.
This, in conjunction with the fact that you can message anyone who’s phone number you have who has the app, means that Facebook has a really good chance to get its app into the hands of a lot more people. That should be tremendously impactful for the company, because there is a lot of competition to grow in the mobile marketplace.

Mobile Is Where It’s At

Remember in your business that appealing to mobile customers is incredibly important and it’s only growing in importance. When you see a hugely successful company such as Facebook making a major effort to appeal to mobile users in order to get more people to download its app, that should set off alarms in your head about how important it is to be relevant to mobile users.
Facebook knows that it its incredibly important to get people to download its app, so the company came up with a brilliant strategy to do that. What is your plan to tap into social media and make sure that your company is appealing to mobile users in some way, shape or form?
If you can’t answer that question yet, then you should definitely be looking toward the future and trying to implement a strategy that could give you the opportunity to grow your reach among mobile users.
