In this moment, WhatsApp has over 800 million active users and this makes it one of the most used mobile applications out there. There are big chances that you have at least one friend using the WhatsApp application and we’re pretty sure that (s)he already asked you why don’t you use it to chat with him/her.
The WhatsApp application comes with a lot of features, one of them being the Voice Call which allows you to call any WhatsApp friend without having to pay anything. However, this feature was using a lot of data and the developers had to do something about it.
Well, it seems that the new WhatsApp 2.12.197 comes with reduced data consumption to the Voice Calling feature, which we’re pretty sure that it will make a lot of people happy. There are countries where the mobile carriers are not offering too much MB of data and we’re pretty sure that especially the people from these countries will be able to finally use the WhatsApp Voice Calling feature via the mobile data and not only when their mobile device is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
The new WhatsApp 2.12.197 also allows you to mark messages as “unread” even after reading them. This is great in case you want to read the WhatsApp message that you’ve received from a friend of yours, without him/her even knowing that you’ve read it.
In order to mark a message as unread, you will need to tap and hold on it for a few seconds and select the “Mark as unread” option.
In addition, you can now also set custom notification sounds for any WhatsApp user. This way, when someone sends you a message on WhatsApp, you will surely know who just sent that message without even looking at the smartphone. We think that this is a great addition to the application and it will be used by a lot of people.
Unfortunately, the Google Drive feature is not here yet, but we assure you that the developers are working on it. This upcoming feature will allow you to store the WhatsApp chat history directly on the cloud, allowing you to access the files from different devices.
