Facebook Tip: Here's How To Block Game, App And Events Request

If your Facebook account is overwhelmed with miscellaneous application and especially the invitations to play candy crush saga. Well here’s how to silence these notifications and live a cleaner Facebook life.

Many of us don’t use Facebook to play games, and that’s why the most annoying part is the number of notifications we get for game and app requests. Fortunately, there’s something you can definitely do to prevent game and app requests on Facebook, so read on to know the process, as reported by Justin Lafferty of Inside Facebook.

When a friend invites you to play a game, you get pinged in your notification area. But most of don’t know that it’s fairly easy to turn off notifications from the app the friend is engaging with, right from the notifications menu.

In order to stop the irritating requests and notifications, mouse over the notification and look for the X on the right side and then click that X that will lead you to turn off notifications for this specific app.

If you want to go a step further and block everything from certain apps, click on “Settings,” and then go to “Blocking” on the left side of the settings menu.

Sadly, there’s no kill switch to block all games or all app invites, but you can surely block a friend who sends you app invites all the time, locate the “Block app invites” section and then type your friend’s name. This way, you can easily stop getting game and app invites from your friend.

Facebook has also brought in blocking settings event invites from friends. Previously, this could be done on the actual event page, but this doesn’t seem possible now. When you block event invites from a certain person, your name/image will now not be available to select when the friend is inviting people.

From the Blocking menu, you can put friends on the restricted list, so they only see your public updates. This could also be beneficial if you’re connected with co-workers/supervisors, or just don’t want close family to know what you’re doing all the time.

Under Block app invites, you can type in the name of popular apps to ensure you never see any more requests from that particular app. You can also go back and unblock the app, if you feel like it later on.
