Pros

Fantastic redesign: Kaspersky Internet Security's new look and feel are stunning. The four primary tools (Scan, Update, Safe Money, and Parental Controls) are now in a cleaner, more palatable two-by-two grid. When you mouse over a module, it lights up with a subtle color and pops up as you hover. The changes aren't just skin deep; Kaspersky has polished the entire flow down to the most granular options. This elegant new experience builds on Kaspersky's already stellar track record for security design.

Rapid scans: Kaspersky Internet Security completed a full scan at about 6 minutes and 2 seconds, which puts it on the faster end of the spectrum.

Top-tier protection: In a May 2014 AV-Comparatives Real World Protection test, Kaspersky Internet Security scored a 99.9 percent block rate, and the 0.1 percent was not considered a compromised case. The only antivirus product to outscore Kaspersky was Bitdefender. AV-Test gave perfect marks to Kaspersky Internet Security across the board, scoring a 6.0/6.0 in Protection, Performance, and Usability. The latest version offers added protection against Webcam hijacking and sends notifications when you attempt to connect to unsecured Wi-Fi networks.

Cons

Surprise browser add-on: Users might be slightly thrown off by Kaspersky attaching a browser add-on. However, the tool toggles the virtual keyboard to deter keyloggers, and also offers real-time alerts for malicious URLs.

Bottom Line

Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 is the best version thus far and, remarkably, one of the best-designed antivirus applications for Windows. While last year's design and performance were better than average, this year's release leaves us little more to ask for. Great performance, speed, and an experience appropriate for both mouse and touchscreen make Kaspersky Internet Security a top pick.
