How to run Android Apps on PC ?

Android has taken the Mobile market with a storm. And now every second person has an Android Smartphone. And the most obvious reason behind this inclination of the Mobile market towards Android are the Apps available for Android Smartphones. Not wasting too much time in all that momentum building, let’s come straight to the point. This post tells you how to run Android Apps on PC.

But why would one want to run Android apps on PC. There are two answers to this:

1. You may have an Android Phone but you may want to try some apps first and then install it on your Phone. In situations where you download games/apps in your PC and then transfer them to your Phone, you can always try the game/app on your PC before transferring it to your PC. Or otherwise also you may want to try the apps before installing them on your Phone
2. You may not have an Android Smartphone and want to use Android apps and play Android games.

How to run Android Apps on PC ?

Let me not do all that babbling again and straight away come to the point.

Basically one can run Android Apps on PC using two software or I should rather say “emulators” which emulate Android to run on Windows. One of them is Bluestacks and the other one is Youwave for Android.

1. Bluestacks

The software still in its beta version is developed by Bluestack Systems, Inc. It is available for Windows as well as Mac. Download Bluestacks from the link below:

Bluestacks
After downloading install Bluestacks and follow the steps given below:
  1. Open Bluestacks and you will see a search box there.
  2. Simply type the name of the App which you want to use and search.
  3. Download and install the App using Bluestacks.
  4. Now run the App and Enjoy.
Bluestacks is free  to use and available for all Windows including XP/Vista/7/8 as well as MAC. One may face problems while installing Bluestacks because of its graphics requirements. But the software is still in its beta stage so we hope that the final release will support all graphic cards including the inbuilt ones.

2. Youwave for Android

This is another great software to run Android Apps on PC. The graphic requirements of Youwave are less than Bluestacks. So, it can be installed on any PC with any graphic card or even with inbuilt graphic card. Download Youwave from the link below:

Youwave for Android
Some of the Key Technical features of Youwave as mentioned on Youwave’s official website are :
  • Supports Android 4.0 ICS (Home Version (new)) and 2.3 Gingerbread (Basic Version)
  • Runs on Windows XP/Vista/7/832/64 bit
  • Simulated SD card functionality – enables game saving
  • Saved State – enables fast restart
  • Enables multi-player online games
  • Dynamic rotating – phone-like instant response (new)
  • Volume control buttons (new)
  • Retractable control panel (new)
You will find the usage instructions of Youwave in the main Youwave Window.
While Youwave is only for Windows it is available free only for a 10 day trial. After that you need to buy it in order to use it.
There’s another Software/Application called IntelAppUp which enables you to run Android Apps on your PC. But the problem with it is that you can only run those Apps which are there in the IntelAppUp App center. And due to this reason I didn’t mentioned it above in the main Post. But if you still want to give it a try, then download it from the following link:
Note: Both the softwares (Bluestacks and Youwave) do not support Apps or Games which have native ARM code such as Opera Mini for Android and many other applications and games.
