How to block the Browser Choice Screen in Windows 7

By editing the registry, you can if you wish block the Browser Choice Update  Screen, which is offered in the European version of Windows 7.

This a technique applies to all supported copies of Windows 7, Vista & XP and allows users to block the delivery of the browser ballot screen.

The technique is designed for system administrators responsible for managed environments under a Volume Licensing program.

But of course, the small registry modification can be applied by all users.

The following information is provided by Microsoft to help system administrators manage the display of the Browser Choice update screen in managed personal computing environments that are under a Volume Licensing program.

Open regedit and navigate to the following Registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\BrowserChoice

Create a new DWORD value named Enable in RHS pane.

Giving it a value:

1 – Will display the Browser Choice update (default)
0 – Will not display the Browser Choice update.
