If you have recently run the Skype program on your Windows 8 PC and observed that an empty or blank blue Log in Screen appears during login in Skype, and nothing happens beyond that, then that’s a glitch you need to resolve immediately. Follow these steps and see if the solution works or the problem still persists.
Blank Blue Log in Screen in Skype
First things first, ensure you are running the latest Skype version. Also install all available updates from Windows Update. Third, regardless of the browser you are using for surfing the internet, install the latest Internet Explorer – Skype’s functioning is dependent on a correctly installed Internet Explorer to display the sign in page.
You can try these steps too.
Reset Internet Explorer settings
Reset Internet Explorer settings to default and see if that helps. Close all Internet Explorer and Explorer windows that are currently open. Launch the browser. If you are running Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, launch Internet Explorer from the desktop. From the ‘Tools’ menu, choose ‘Internet options’. If you don’t see the Tools menu, press Alt. Next, click the ‘Advanced’ tab and hit ‘Reset’ button.
From the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, select ‘Reset’. Select the Delete personal settings check box if you also want to remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, Tracking Protection, and ActiveX Filtering data.
When Internet Explorer finishes applying the default settings, click Close, and then OK. Exit and then start Internet Explorer.
Use Legacy Login for Skype
Quit Skype. For this, right-click the Skype icon in the system tray at the bottom right of the screen and select Quit.
Next, right-click on your computer’s desktop and select New > Shortcut.
In the box, insert the following:
“C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe” /legacylogin
For 64-bit operating system:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe” /legacylogin
Click Next.
Give the shortcut a name, and click Finish. Double-click this shortcut and sign in with your Skype name and password.
Run the LoginCleanup file
You will need to download and run (double-click) this Login Cleanup file from Microsoft. The LoginCleanup file will run, close Skype, and restart Skype once it has cleaned the login files on your machine. Restart Skype and try to log in again.
