How Do You Flip a Video in VLC Media Player

VLC Media Player
We are very fond of videos. All of us like to see videos in various ways like movies, video songs or even video presentations. We often record videos with our Smartphone, digital cameras and love to share them instantly on YouTube. When we love to share videos we also have some issues with rotating videos. During recording sometimes we rotate our Smartphone and as a result our video also been recorded in 90° angle in most of the cases. So before share this we need to rotate the same into normal position. If it is a picture, then it is very easy for us as we already have so many ways. When it is a video format we are in big trouble.
We can easily solve this problem with our very own VLC Media player.
Follow these step by step guidance to reach your goal;

  • Open VLC Media player
  • Then go to “Tools” and then “Effects and Filters
  • In the “Adjustments and Effects” window, choose “Video Effects” tab
  • Then “Video Effects” tab, choose “Geometry
  • In “Geometry” click the “Transform” box to enable transform and make be sure that the “Rotate by 90 degrees” setting below is selected.
  • Then click on “Close
  • This process will allow you to view and play your rotated video with only VLC Media player in proper angle. If you like to save the rotation changes permanently then from the main menu go to “Tools” and then “Preferences
  • In the “Interface Settings” look at the left side’s bottom and choose to “Show All Settings
  • In the left pane under “Stream Output” expand “Sout stream” >”Transcode” and at right pane under “Video filter” choose the “Video transformation filter“.
  • Now click on ”Save
  • From the main menu choose “Media” then “Convert / Save
  • In the “Convert/Save” options at “File” tab, choose “Add” to add your recently rotated video file and then press the drop-down arrow on the right of “Convert / Save” button
  • In the “Convert” options, choose “Browse” then select the destination folder and give a file name for the converted file. This video should be in MOV format.
  • In the “Convert” options, choose your profile output: “Video – H.264 + MP3 (MP4)” and then click on the “Tools” button on the right side to edit the selected profile.
  • In the profile settings, find and click the “Audio codec” tab
  • In the “Audio codec” settings use the drop down arrow in codec’s line and from the list of codecs choose “MP3” and then Save.
  • In the “Convert” window press “Start” to start the conversion.
  • When the “Conversion/Streaming” process is completed, you can play your rotated video in any media player.
