Facebook Chat Head Notifications comes to Chrome with Faces.im

In this age of technology you just cannot afford to lag behind others. There are dozens of apps that help you keep a track of your Facebook messages and notifications. One such extension for Chrome that helps you stay updated with your friends’ status updates and messages is Faces.im.

If you have the Face.im installed on your Windows PC and someone sends you a message, the extension instantly displays a chat head of the messenger on the side of your Chrome browser. The chat heads remain visible on any new tabs that you open in Chrome. By clicking on the chat head, you can access your Facebook messages. Besides, you can also open this Facebook messenger window by clicking the button that the extension installs to the right of Chrome’s URLbar.

When you receive a Facebook message, you’ll get a nice little popout chat head on the side of your browser. You’ll start seeing Chat Heads on any new page.
Thereafter, you can reply to the message or simply ignore it if you are busy with something important. How is Faces.im different from Chat Heads in Facebook mobile and Faces.im? Well, the former app opens a drop-down window, while clicking on Faces.im’s chat heads in Chrome opens up a separate window with the message.
Faces.im does not send data outside of your computer.

Although, Faces.im is a good extension and works as advertised, there remains scope for improvement in it. For instance, some users report when they share a YouTube video in a chat conversation, they are able to view only half part of it. Just past the midpoint it snaps and then plays automatically at any time.
Another feature that counts as the shortfall of the extension is that that unless you’re in Chrome, for the specific profile, there are no notifications (not even sound). It could have been a generous gesture, if the extension was allowed to run in Chrome’s background process so that a user can continue to get messages even if the browser was closed.
Check it out and let us know if you have any comments to make.
