7 New Social Networking Sites You Should Explore in 2014

 Social networking sites keep changing over the years, and it continues to change as time goes on. Old social media trends die and new ones appear. Most people admit to moving on to newer and cooler social sites especially with the recent shift towards mobile based social networking sites which has lot to offer from dating to secret sharing. #1.Secret



Secret is an app which is available for iOS, Android, and web platform. It allows people to share messages anonymously within their circle of friends, friends of friends, and publicly. It was created by two former Google employees, Chris Bader and David Byttow and released on 30 January 2014. The app has had tremendous commercial success in the U.S. making $8.6 million venture capital within two months of its release. Secret is a place to be yourself, it has proven surprisingly addictive especially in style with teenagers. Secret is working on unspecified new tools to make users feel more confident about what they post.




#2.Shots



Shots is a photo sharing app, basically for the selfie lovers. The app only allows the use of front-view cameras and users can only take pictures through the app and it does not allow users to upload previously taken pictures. The app also added the ‘Reply Shot’, which lets users respond to followers through selfies instead of comments .The app is only available for iOS, but will be launching an Android version soon.


#3.Snapchat


With this photo messaging application, users can take photos, record videos, add text and drawings, and send them to a controlled list of recipients. You can set a time limit for how long your viewers can see your snaps. Snapchat is available for both Android and iOS devices. Snapchat also introduced Snapkidz for users less than 13 years of age, allowing children to take snaps and draw on them, but they cannot send snaps to other users.



#4.WeChat



WeChat is a texting, voice message service, sharing of photographs and videos. You can also chat with random people located near you. The group chat, along with the free calls factor, makes this an interesting social network to explore. The app is available for Android, iOS and several other devices.   It is the second largest standalone messaging app by monthly active users after WhatsApp. To promote the app in India, WeChat roped in Bollywood actors Varun Dhawan and Parineeti Chopra as brand ambassadors.



#5.We Heart It



It is an image based social networking app for inspiring images. ‘We Heart It’ describes itself as "A home for your inspiration" and a place to "Organize and share the things you love.” Like Pinterest, We Heart It provides ‘canvases’ and ‘collections’, where users can heart and tag other users in photos. We Heart It was chosen as one of Google Play's Best Apps of 2013 and is gaining over 1 million new users each month. It is available for both Android and iOS devices.


#6.Tinder


Tinder is a dating social network and also an app that is available in 24 languages. The application connects with user’s Facebook profile;  gathers basic information to match possible candidates who are most likely to be well-matched, based on geographical location, number of mutual friends and common interests. The app allows the users to anonymously swipe ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to people they are interested in meeting. If two users like each other then it results in a match and Tinder introduces the two users and opens a chat.  



#7.Medium



Medium is a micro blogging platform, perfect for business professionals to attract new spectators. It was launched in 2012, created by Evan Williams and Biz Stone. It allows users to exchange stories or ideas and they can also recommend stories. You can experiment with new subjects and themes.
