Early defragmenters that came with Windows operating system were a pain to use. Though with Vista, the built-in disk defragmenters in Windows operating system started using less of resources and helped in optimizing the system drives without giving you problems, there is still a reason for using third party disk defragmenters like Super Easy Live Defrag or SmartDefrag.
The reason is that the built-in disk defragmenter in Windows won’t start automatically and won’t keep a tab on how much the disk is fragmented. Thus, the need for disk defragmenters, or rather, disk optimizers, that keep an eye on fragmentation of the hard disk drives and start defragmenting whenever necessary. The automated process keeps you tension free as you need not schedule tasks for defragmenting the hard disks.
Super Easy Live Defrag registers itself as a disk defragmenter process and keeps on running in the background. It keeps on checking the disk fragmentation without interfering with your work. When it finds that a drive has been fragmented much to affect the computer’s performance, it starts defragmenting that disk drive without slowing down your computer. The process is non-intrusive so you can simply install the program and forget it. It will take care of your disk drives automatically.
Installation of the program is smooth. The installation package does not have any crapware that installs with the defragmentation application. You simply download the Super Easy Live Defrag from its home page, and run the installer to install the program.
While installing the program, Super Easy creates a Windows process that keeps on running with the operating system in the background. The program runs in the background and does not interfere with whatever you are doing on your computer. If it finds that any of your drive is fragmented too much, it starts defragmentation on its own. It won’t even provide you with any notification nor would ask for your permission before starting the defragmentation process.
The speed of Super Easy Live Defrag is good. It took 3 minutes to defrag an 80 GB hard disk having 3 drives: one of 30GB and two drives of 25GB each. It was the first defragmentation after installing new operating system and applications so you can understand the level of fragmentation on the C drive.
Interface is easy too and even novices can handle the program if need be. First of all, there is no need to interfere with the functioning of the program once installed. However, if anyone wants to take a look at the program interface, change its settings or wants to start a manual defragmentation, they can do so by clicking on the System Tray icon of Super Easy Live Defrag. Right clicking on the system tray icon in Windows 8 will give you two options:
- Show Statistics
- Show Control
The “Show Statistics” option will show you when the disk was defragmented and how many times was the drive defragmented during last week and since installation of the program.
The “Show Control” option brings up the application window of Super Easy Live Defrag. From there, you can start Defragmentation process manually or change the settings. The interface is self-explanatory so is easy to change the settings.
Overall, Super Easy Live Defrag works as expected and as promised by the software makers. I am using the program for now, until I come across a better disk defragmenter. Go get your’s from its home page.
