Do not let corrupted files infect other files in your USB flash drive

USB flash drive

It is a tensing situation when you know that you have certain corrupted files on your USB flash drive, and do not want those files to corrupt other files on the same drive. Do not panic, as this issue can be fixed with few tweaks in your Windows systems. You’re absolutely wrong, if you think that you need to go for some third party tool, as it is not so. Here are the ways that you can fix this issue, by making use of Windows tool.
  • For this, you need to go to the ‘Device Manager’ and this tool can be located from the Control Panel of the Start menu.
  • Under Device Manager, navigate to the ‘disk drives’ section and choose your USB flash device.
  • This will open up a window, where you need to switch to the ‘Policies’ tab and under ‘Removal Policy’ section, choose the radio button next to ‘Better performance’ option.
  • After this is done, you must try removing the drive, but not by pulling it out. Rather, you need to left click the ‘safely remove drive’ icon of the system tray and choose the drive that you want to have ejected. If Windows permits you to remove the drive, then you should otherwise you shouldn’t go for it.
  • If Windows says, “This device is currently in use”, then this means either Windows is not done with the writing to the disc or it just doesn’t want the drive to be removed at that specific time. You can try to eject the device in two ways:
    1. Make sure that all programs are closed and then, try to remove it.
    2. The second thing that you can do is launch the Task Manager, switch the tab to processes. Select Windows Explorer from the task list and ‘end task’. After this, you will see a ‘restart’ button at the bottom right side. Upon clicking it, all the processes that were opened will close and you can remove the device easily.
This will not let infection of other files in your flash drive.
