A SIMPLE WAY TO HIDE YOUR DRIVE – USING DISKMGMT

Hey All how you doing?
Today we will see how to hide a drive without having to tinker with registry. Tinkering with registry is something which is recommended for people who are comfortable for the consequences – which may range from crashing the OS to a complete format.
Sometimes, there are safe ways to do the same things and co-indecently, they are easy too.
So lets start with the guide to how to hide  a drive letter.
Step 1. Press Windows + R simultaneously
Run-Dialog
Step 2. In the “Run” dialog, type “diskmgmt.msc” without quotes. It should look something like the following:

Run-Dialog-With-Diskmgmt-dot-msc
Step 3: Press enter and you should see something similar (After saying “Yes” to the UAC prompt if any) to the following screen:
DiskManagement
Now let us suppose you want to hide the drive “I” (here its named software and it may differ on your system), so what do we do?
Step 4: Right click on the drive you wish to hide. We will right-click on “I” drive here.
DiskManagement-ContextMenu
Step 5: Click on the “Change Drive Letter and Paths” – Following screen will appear which will ask you what you want to do. Click on “Remove”
Change-Drive
Step 6: Make sure that the drive letter you are about to remove is not in use (which means no file from that drive should be open). If it is in use, the following dialog may appear to warn you that the drive is in use and the consequences if you do proceed to remove the drive letter.
DriveInUse
If you click on Yes, the drive letter will be removed. You will see the following screen.
FinalStage
If you haven’t yet noticed the change, take a close look at the drive “I”. Where is it?Bingo! You are done!
Wasn’t that easy?
