How to Recover My Active Desktop – Windows XP

activedesktop
Windows XP users are often getting into this problem where the desktop wallpaper is not showing up because of active desktop recovery error. This is a very common error but sometimes it irritate us so much when after doing many process either we never get back our actual desktop wallpaper nor we can set a new desktop wallpaper.
Microsoft has suggested many ways to get out from this issues and it is clearly stated right on the error screen. But sometimes all those process can’t able to recover the actual desktop at all. In that case we need to do some tricks and edit some registry value. Editing windows registry is quiet a risky thing as a single mistake can ruin our whole operating system and it become unusable. So we need to be very careful while doing registry edit.
We need to follow these instructions stated below very carefully one by one, hope this can solve your problem;
  • Go to Run, type regedit and press enter
  • Go here HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Desktop\SafeMode\Components
  • Select the value DeskHtmlVersion
  • Select the Decimal radial button
  • Change the value of 272 to 0
After done these steps just come out from registry edit, restart your computer and you can see your wallpaper again and also set new wallpaper as per your choice.
