Google Chrome Crashing due to winhttp.dll : Solution

Google Chrome logo
Many users face the problem of Application error after installing Google Chrome that says: “The application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000005.Click on OK to terminate the application“.
In order to fix the above issue one needs to put ” –no–sandbox” at the last of the Target field. But after putting this you may witness Google Chrome crashing frequently. Or otherwise also you may witness Google Chrome crashing.
Here is a solution which I searched for and found. that this error occurs because of the file winhttp.dll.

Solution for Google Chrome Crashing

1. Right click the shortcut icon of Google Chrome from where you open Google Chrome and then go to Properties. You will see a target field. In that field at the last give a space and write : –new-http i.e. two dashes(–) and then new and one more dash(-) and then http.

And if you have already added the –no-sandbox in the Target field then give a space after –no-sandbox and then write ” –new-http“.
What this does is that it creates a new instance of the winhttp.dll file from the Windows file and thus overrides the winhttp.dll file of Google Chrome which was caused crashing of Google Chrome.
Note: If you were facing The application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000005. error before and you added “ –no-sandbox ” to the Target field then do not remove it. Add –new-httpafter that only.( Others please ignore this note).
2. Sometimes Google Chrome may be conflicting with other software on your PC. In such a case you need to uninstall the conflicting software. Here is the list of software which conflict with Google Chrome
