The Department is implementing core banking in all departmental post offices (around 25,000). The 1.3 lakh branch offices will also be covered by deploying the CBS (Core Banking Solution) mobile application in hand-held devices that are to be supplied to these offices under the Rural ICT stream of the project. 

The CBS project will bring in facilities of ATM banking, Internet Banking, Mobile banking and Phone banking to the Post Office Savings Bank customers. Eventually, it will enable POSB customers to perform transactions 24x7 in ATMs and to transfer money from their account to any bank account through NEFT and RTGS on complete roll out of CBS.

Support for Windows Server 2003 ends in less than 100 days – Microsoft

Microsoft has updated their Windows Server 2003 product page with a 100-day countdown timer, urging their current customers to migrate from their existing system to the latest Windows Server 2012 R2, Microsoft Azure or Office 365. Microsoft would no longer provide security patches or support to their customers after 14th July. The announcement of retiring Server 2003 was made in July last year.

Office 365 global administrators can now send the emails of size 150 MB. Microsoft has increased the maximum attachment size from 25 MB to 150 MB allowing users to send large file attachments in the mail when needed. Increasing the total attachment size directly from 25 MB to 150 MB is a good jump, and will certainly be useful for the users who often want to send the larger sized attachments.

How to remove Earlier Version of Windows from Boot Menu

This post shows how to remove Earlier Version of Windows from boot menu in Windows 8 / 7. You can remove it after uninstalling one OS from a dual boot computer. If you have two versions of the Windows operating system installed on a computer, and you uninstall one of them, then in the boot menu, you will continue to see the entry for the earlier version of Windows too.

This issue may occur even after using the new installation for several days. At every startup, you need to select the current operating system’s name and hit the Enter button to boot into your system. If you want to remove Earlier version of Windows entry from the boot menu, here is the solution to do it using BCDEDIT.

If you are using Windows 7, you can search for cmd in the Start Menu, right click on the exact result and select Run as Administrator. If you are using Windows 8.1, you can open that by pressing Win+X and selecting Command Prompt (Admin).

1.      Counter PA has to invoke HCAAC menu for closure.

2.      Interest for current financial year will be calculated and posted in the PPF account.

3.      System generated transaction ID will be created.

4.      Supervisor has to verify the account closure using HCAAC menu.

5.      In some cases, when the supervisor tries to verify the account closure, if the Tran ID              (generated in step 3) is in Entered state, then the error message ‘Pending verification            exists for the account’ will be displayed.

6.      Tran ID if not noted down in step 3, it has to be obtained from HFTI menu by selecting         the transaction status ‘Entered’  (Tran ID generated against the PFF account number            will be shown).

7.      In Counter PA login, in HTM – Modify option, this Tran ID is to be posted.

8.      In Supervisor login, in HTM, this Tran ID is to be verified.

9.      After verification of the transaction, in HCAAC menu, the closure has to be verified.

Error while modifying the expiry date of agent in DOP Finacle

• When we try to modify the expiry date of agent in the menu HDSAMM then the system will throw the error as mentined in the below figure.

The system will display the error "Unverified accounts exists for this direct selling agent"  as mentioned in the above figure.

Root cause of the problem

• When any account opneing through that particular agent is not verified then the system will not allow to modify the agent details i.e, license expiry date of that agent.
• Note that when any account is opened through agent then immediately verification of account creation shuld be done.

• Generally PPF account can be closed after the completion of 15 Financial years from the date of opening of the account.
• We generally get the problem in DOP Finacle while closing the matured PPF account as mentioned below.

When we try to verify the PPF account we get the general problem "E4818-The account closure can proceed only if the balance is zero" 

• When we get the above error we should not try to verify the closure option if we try then the system will throw the error mentioned in the above figure i.e., the system will suggests to visit the closure tab for more details.
• When we visit in the closure tab then the system will show the unposted transaction id i.e., system genearted transaction id.

April Fool prankster 'announces' dearness allowance hike: Business Standard

Millions of central government employees were taken for a ride on April Fool's Day by an office memorandum from the ministry of finance that the much-awaited dearness allowance had been increased by eight percentage points, higher than the expected six percentage point increase.

The memorandum, numbered 1/2/2015-E.11 (B), dated March 30, 2015, and duly signed by an undersecretary in the department of expenditure, said the President was pleased to decide that the dearness allowance payable to central government employees shall be enhanced from the existing rate of 107 per cent to 115 per cent with effect from January 1, 2015.

Dearness allowance based on the consumer price index till December is usually announced around March and is applicable from three months before that, which is January.
