Data Management & Disaster Data Recovery

Learn how to manage and backup your computer data before a disaster strikes. Store you data safely and know how to retrieve that data if your computer malfunctions or is damaged.
  1. Data Backup

    • Go to your computers control panel or help center to find out how to backup your files. Some computers have a setting that allows you to plan automatic backups every day, every few days or once a week, depending on your preference.

    External Hard Drive

    • Manage your data by storing your most important files on an external hard drive. These can be purchased in a variety of storage sizes. Once you upload your data onto the external hard drive, store it somewhere safe.

    Data Recovery Software

    • Purchase data recovery software if your computer is still functioning after a disaster. This searches your hard drive for important files that you may want to save.

      Saving New Data

    • Don't save new data to your computer until you have recovered any missing files. Saving new data may replace some of the missing files from your computer before you have a chance to retrieve it.

    Internet Files

    • Search the internet for files you have uploaded to a website in the past. Many people are able to retrieve documents and photos from sent emails, social networking sites or photo-sharing websites.
