Computer updates are downloadable files that are designed to improve your software and hardware's performance, but things do not always pan out as anticipated. Some downloads can become corrupt between the download and installation phases, rendering the update invalid or problematic. This can be fixed by rolling the computer back prior to the update by using System Restore.
Step 1
Click "Start" and type "System Restore" into the "Search" box.
Step 2
Press "Enter" and click "Use a different restore point."
Step 3
Click on a restore point that was prior to the installation of the update.
Step 4
Click "Next" to restore your computer.
Step 5
Re-download and reinstall the update after the computer reboots, overwriting the faulty copy with a fresh, working version.
