1) Finacle is not a software. Confused? Aren't you? Yes, its a fact that finacle is not a software. Its a web based user interface. Now! what the bloody heck is a web based user interface? Nothing. If I have to put it into simple words, finacle is just a website. True! Its just a website like www.gmail.com, www.facebook.com. Then why it doesn't open at your home. Its obvious isn't it, if finacle website opens at our home or at a customer's home, there is possibility for misappropriations which we do not want. Finacle is a website which opens only at our office or to be precise it should only open in the SB counters. Our system administrators will take care of that. They will see to it that finacle only opens in SB counters.

2) Now we know that finacle is a website. First, we should understand what is a website. Any website is an interface to another computer (which we call as server) located at another location. It means using websites we do various operations in computer which is located far away from us.  Since finacle is also a website, we are actually doing transactions in the server which is located in Mumbai.

3) Now we know that, we are doing transactions in server which is located in Mumbai using finacle. We will now try to know how this process takes place. When you do a transaction in the computer at your office, your computer will send some information about the transaction which you are doing, to the computer which is located at Mumbai. The computer which is located at Mumbai will receive this information and it will process and again it will send some information to your computer at your office.

For example : Let us assume you are doing SB deposit using CTM menu. You will enter all the details and click on Post. After you click on Post your computer, your computer will send this information to the computer in Mumbai. Now the computer at Mumbai will process this information, it will deposit the amount in the customer's SB account and then it will send a transaction Id to our computer.

This process of sending information to server and receiving information from server takes place via INTERNET.

4) Why do we get " PAGE CANNOT DISPLAY" even if we are opening finacle at our office? We know that for security reasons finacle will only open at our office counters. But to identify that request to open finacle is coming from post office only, DOP is connecting all post offices to a network. This network is called as INDIA POST DOMAIN. As of now we have noticed that the offices which are not yet migrated to India Post Domain are facing these connectivity issues. This migration to India post domain will hopefully be done by march ending. So after that hopefully this error will not come.
