Google Chrome Remote Desktop available for Android

Google Chrome Remote Desktop available for Android

Google has made the Chrome Remote Desktop service, which allows users to access their computers remotely using the company's web browser, available for Android devices.

Users simply need to download the Chrome Remote Desktop Android app from Play Store and login with their Google ID to see the devices they can access remotely. In order to control any desktop from their Android device, they need to input the PIN number provided when they set up remote access for the desktop. Thereafter, they can operate the desktop from their Android device at any time.

As is the case with any remote access service, the desktop needs to be turned on and connected to the internet. Chrome web browser need not be open in order to access the desktop remotely.

The app does not work perfectly though. When users, for example, open a file on the desktop via a smartphone or tablet, there is a slight lag; the file opens on the desktop immediately, but this does not appear on the desktop in real-time. Only after a delay of a few seconds are they able to see on Android devices that the file has been opened on the desktop.

With this app, users will be able to access their Mac, Windows, Chrome OS and Linux desktops remotely from their mobile devices.
