Life invites us to be always on the edge of change. We cannot use past habits and programmes to activate our unique potential, our genius, into the dynamic process of creation. We want to create something new – something that has never been part of our life before!
Living the life of our dreams
Every one of us has the potential to move beyond an ordinary life towards living the life of our dreams. Our life can be a journey of adventure and discovery, whereby we start resetting our mind in such a way that it makes the impossible possible! We can be living an ordinary life, yet in a completely unusual way. We might bring the extra-ordinary into our life – perhaps even the inconceivable. It is possible to have it all, whatever that might mean for each of us. We can choose to make our journey through life a glorious adventure. To achieve this, we need to be willing to accept the extraordinary – firstly, to know that there is so much more than what we can currently even imagine or perceive and secondly, to begin to perceive the extraordinary in the apparent ordinariness of our everyday life. Accepting even the possibility of the extraordinary opens the gate that allows us to begin to experience it.
We are what we are, not because of what we have been, but because of what we are becoming! Typically, when we stop fostering our unique potential and bring the process of becoming to a standstill, we keep relating to the events in our life in a repetitive stereotypical manner. We cannot see the future and the gifts it has in store for us unless we let go of the past.
To be able to engage positively with our genius, our authentic potential, it is always important to appreciate what we have become, but at the same time to always want to become more. We need to ask ourselves the right questions and then, according to our desire and uniqueness, do everything we can to become more of what we are.
All answers are within us! It is all within us! We are The Truth! And every person has the ability to access The Truth. However, most of us experience some difficulties. The reason for this is that we, instead of identifying with our authentic Self and being and living who we truly are, tend to identify with what we see outside of our Self: the form and content of our reality, our self image and the consensus of our time – our zeitgeist. We have identified with it to such an extent that we know very little about The Truth anymore – if anything at all!
We all know the ancient Delphi Oracle life task: Know Thyself. It suggests that we learn how to ‘be’ who we are – to be complete and whole. Because to know ourselves means to be ourselves. And to be ourselves means to stop identifying with the external world. It is our task to become more fully and consciously understanding and to live out all the potentials contained in who we are as a unique individual.
A man may perform astonishing feats
And comprehend a vast amount of knowledge,
And yet have no understanding of himself
-Soren Kierkegaard
Therefore, to find out more about The Truth and our Self really, we need to let go of all identification – especially our identification with what is going on in our heads: the incessant chatter of our mind. The instant we disengage from our mind-chatter, what we are without it will unfold of its own accord.
The more we deny our authenticity, the more we will put up a smoke screen – we hide our true Self behind a facade. As a result, we become less and less able to access and perceive The Truth. Our level of Self-love and Self-integration (Self-actualization) is an indicator as to the range of our perception – the degree to which we can access the Truth. The more we are ‘at one’ with our true Self, the more conscious we will become and the more our range of perception will deepen and grow.
When we discover the
truth is already in us,
We are all at once our
original selves.
-Dogen
Since so many of us are disconnected from so many aspects of our Self, what we are therefore perceiving is only a minuscule fraction of The Truth. From this perspective one can only try to imagine the incalculable clarity and scope that await our perception.
The one thing that we can trust completely is that our perceived ‘out there’ reality is an exactmirror of where we are at. Given that all is within us and there really is no ‘out there’ anyway; if we want to change something in our created reality, we change it by becoming what we want to see reflected back to us.
Be the change that you want to see in this world.
-Gandhi
In conclusion, nobody can teach us anything about The Truth because there is really nothing to learn. We need a teacher only to encourage us to tap the incalculable power within us. Then, we will realize that we never really needed that teacher in the first place. The teacher has simply reminded us of what was actually always there, he has convinced us that there is a power hidden within our being and that we can reach it. This is the only true value a teacher can offer.
Therefore, to begin to access The Truth that lies within, we need to be willing to take the necessary steps that demonstrate what we want. We need to take action; to make a gesture that affirms our commitment to discovering The Truth of who we really are; to discover our unique potential. As we make a gesture of our intent through our attitudes, thoughts and actions, all kinds of new energies, possibilities and potentials are awakened. More and more we will begin to live the life we are meant to live – not the life that others think we should live! We will begin to enjoy the privilege of fully living our authentic potential.
