5 lesser known Facebook features you should know

Facebook is regularly releasing new features for it’s users. Recently it updated the Facebook Messenger, so that you can make payments through it. Apart from that, there are many more features which some of us are not aware of. Facebook is not only useful to keep in touch with your friends and relatives, but you can do lot of useful things using it.

Lesser known Facebook features

Do you know that, you can donate through Facebook? Are you aware that, you can add your events from Facebook to Google Calendar? There are many more such things you may not know, but can be done through Facebook by just using some of it’s features.

1] Get back deleted Facebook content

Do you know that Facebook keeps an archive of everything you have done on the social network? You can get back the accidentally deleted stuff from Facebook. Just go to Settings of your Facebook account and click on the Download a copy link of your Facebook data.

Facebook takes it time to collect your entire stuff and sends an email with the download link. You will be prompted for the password again to download your data.

2] Donate to Non-profits organizations using Facebook

Facebook also allows us to donate to Non-profits Organizations through their Facebook Pages. Visit their pages and from there you can visit the official website of the Organization to donate the amount. You would also see Donate Nowbutton, beside the post in the News Feed shared by these Non-profits Organizations.

American Cancer Society, UNICEF and other Non-profits Organizations are part of this and many more are yet to be added. You can find the entire list here.

3] Add Events from Facebook Calendar to Google Calendar

If you are the one who use Google Calendar to track your schedule and there are many more events on Facebook, you can sync your Facebook Calendar with the Google Calendar. Just visit Facebook Events to look at all events in which you are involved. At the bottom right, you can see Upcoming Events and Birthdays links.

                                   Upcoming Events
Right click on the required link and select “Copy link Address”. Now, go to your Google Calendar account and click on the dropdown arrow beside “Other Calendars”. Select “Add by URL” and paste the link you have copied just now from Facebook and click “Add Calendar”.

Now, you can see that the Facebook Calendar has been imported to your Google Calendar.

4] Save and read Facebook posts later

There might be many posts including videos, music, TV and many more on your News Feed and there will be no time for you to read them all at once and it is not so easy to get back to the post you want to read later.
Save post on Facebook
At such times, you can save the post which you want to read it later. Click on the dropdown arrow beside the post and select “Save” option from it.
Saved Posts
Once you get the time, click on the Saved link on the left side of your profile and it shows the saved items.

5] Create a Page from your Facebook Profile

You can convert your Facebook Profile into a Facebook Page. By doing this, all your friends will become the members of the Page automatically. Just, visit Create a Page from Profile and choose the correct category for your page. Select the sub category and fill the further required details on the next page and click on Get Started.
                                   Create a Fan page
Now, follow the instructions and it is done. The important point here is, the conversion is permanent and I would suggest that you first download the copy of your data before converting your Facebook profile to the page.
These are some of the Facebook features which many of us are not aware of. If you have any more to add, please do share with us through  comments.
